(NYSE: VSH). Constructed with Vishay's PCB Mold Technology, the TEMT6000 surface-mount sensor is a low-cost device capable of serving as a daylight sensor for backlight dimming in mobile phones, notebook computers, PDAs, cameras, video cameras, dashboards, and plasma televisions. With an ultra-small footprint measuring 4.0 mm by 2.0 mm, the Vishay Semiconductors TEMT6000 sensor allows designers to save space in or enhance the functionality of these systems. The TEMT6000 sensor features a peak sensitivity of 570 nm and a wide angle of half-sensitivity of ±60°. Although the device is highly sensitive to ambient light, it suppresses the infrared (IR) spectrum to offer improved "human eye"-like responsiveness to the visible light spectrum. The TEMT6000 sensors are rated for an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. These lead (Pb)-free devices are RoHS- and WEEE-compliant and are suitable for lead (Pb)-free IR reflow soldering processes with a solder temperature rating of 260 °C. Samples and production quantities of the new ambient light sensor are available now with lead times of 6 to 8 weeks for larger orders. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc., a Fortune 1,000 Company listed on the NYSE (VSH), is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductors (diodes, rectifiers, transistors, and optoelectronics and selected ICs) and passive electronic components (resistors, capacitors, inductors, sensors, and transducers). These components are used in virtually all types of electronic devices and equipment, in the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets. Its product innovations, successful acquisition strategy, and ability to provide "one-stop shop" service have made Vishay a global industry leader.
