The Perspective:
High-power-density TRANSZORB® transient voltage suppressors in the SMA and SMB packages are designed to protect a variety of voltage-sensitive components from destruction or degradation by transient overvoltages. Their instantaneous response to transient overvoltages makes these devices particularly suited to protect voltage-sensitive devices such as MOS technology and low-voltage-supplied ICs. Vishay offers devices with peak pulse power of 500 W and various voltage options in the SMA package, as well as 1000-W unidirectional and 800-W bidirectional devices in various voltages in the SMB package. The new transient voltage suppressors are ideal for power supply, SMPS, telecom, and automotive voltage-protection applications.
